Who made the Pence and Cents Issue similitudes?
Around 1902 a California stamp dealer is reported to have been the maker of some remarkable engraved pence and cents similitudes. They appear as die proofs and SPECIMEN plate proofs in the following values – 7 ½ pence, 10 pence and 10 cents. A true similitude reproduction should be associated with a letterhead, business card, catalogue or album page. These similitudes appear to have no connection to any dealer. Are there any more values? Can any one shed more light on these?
