The B.N.A. Reference Manual of Fakes, Forgeries, and Counterfeits

1977 – 1981

Series I consists of 11 releases published between 1977 and 1981. Releases consisted of either approximately 50 pages (releases 1-5), or 100 pages (releases 8-9, 10-11). With permission, the series was modeled on the Germany Philatelic Society Reference Manual of Forgeries by Dr. Werner M. Bohne.As new information surfaced, and errors of text or fact became known, each release from No. 2 to 11 contained revised and updated pages.

The topics in each release were varied, and page sets came with tabs to help their owners organize the contents. The pages were 5 ½ x 8 ½ inches, three hole punched for three 7 x 9 inch binders.Series I is out of print, and was replaced by Series II. The author does have limited copies of some Series I releases, and when inventoried, these will be listed in the “Prices and Availability” section of this web page.
